Our impact

While science has the potential to transform all our lives for the better, that only works if there is true representation, equity and equality of access for all.

Did you know we're an educational charity?

There are many issues around representation within STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) - from teaching within schools through to scientific research. 

As a science centre, we're in a unique position to bridge the gap between science and people. As a charity (registered charity no. 1049954), it's our job to include everyone, build confidence and encourage agency.

Every year we welcome thousands of visitors to our venue on Bristol harbourside, including schoolchildren, young people, community groups and other local charities and not-for-profits. 

We also work with local partners and schools to offer out and about activities, work experience programmes and bespoke opportunities for individuals who wouldn't normally feel like science is for them.

They made it so easy for us to attend, it was like you were able to forget your disability and be yourself without limitations. We The Curious opens up the world to everyone. I have learnt a lot through the displays, learnt more about myself and opened up my mind to many possibilities. I failed all my science GCSEs but now years on thanks to We The Curious, I have a renewed interest and want to keep going!

Nature Rising - a reflection

Between January – June 2025, The Box played host to ‘Nature Rising’ exhibition - a ground-breaking project led by Global Majority communities in Bristol. School Takeover Days
